Liturgical Ministry

The Commission on Liturgical and Spiritual Life will work to encourage full and active participation in the liturgical and spiritual activities of the Parish Community.

By communicating with the Parish Community, we will seek and welcome suggestions to:

*Improve the spiritual life of the Parish.

We will also oversee the training and develop guidelines for the various Litrugical Ministries.

St. Bernard offers a variety of opportunities to serve during liturgies. Lectors, eucharistic ministers, ushers, greeters and Mass servers all participate in our efforts to bring to life the Church's guidelines to promote a full, conscious and active participation of the baptized in the liturgy. We warmly welcome your interest in becoming involved in liturgical ministry. Please consider this a personal invitation to join our ministry team!

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion: Assist the presider in ministering the Eucharist; attend training sessions; wash vessels after Mass. Must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and be age 16 or older.

Lector: To proclaim the Word of God at weekend Masses; General Intercessions; be available for special liturgies.

Server: Altar servers need to be in fourth grade or older. They assist the priest in making our worship prayerful. Training sessions are given.

Usher/Greeter: Welcome and help people feel comfortable in church. Greet people; assist them in finding seating; distribute collection baskets; hand out parish bulletins and missalettes; offer assistance when needed; and after the liturgy, make sure pew areas are neat and welcoming.

If you are interested in participating in one of these liturgical roles, please contact the Director of Music and Worship at 249-7288 ext. 225.
